How the date difference is counted

Select two dates to see the elapsed calendar days and the number of weekdays in that span. The calculator counts dates rather than hours, so daylight saving changes do not affect the result.

The default count starts after the start date and ends on the end date. Select Include the start date when you need a count that includes both endpoints.

What counts as a business day?

A business day here is any Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. Weekends are excluded. Public holidays and company closures are not included in the calculation.

Frequently asked questions

Are both dates included?

The start date is excluded and the end date is included by default. Turn on ‘Include the start date’ to count both dates. Choosing the same date gives zero days by default, or one day when that option is on.

Does the business day count exclude holidays?

No. Business days are Monday through Friday only. Public holidays differ by country and region, so they are not subtracted.
